Career History
June 2010 - present
Freelance Multimedia Designer
I am currently working with a company in the US to create an internet portal for their accounting business as well as helping with supplementary marketing materials.
July 2009 – May 2010
Designer | Blachere Illumination, Ladybank, Fife, United Kingdom
I worked as a designer for this internationally renowned festive lighting supplier. My main duties included designing bespoke pieces for clients and creating marketing images for schemes across the UK, as well as creating animated simulations for clients across Europe. I was heavily involved in re-branding the company, helping to design the new company website and supplementary marketing materials from exhibition stands to wall-planners and advertising flyers.
The majority of my work at Blachere was providing visualisation solutions for our project managers. This ranged from creating concept boards in Illustrator to Photoshop simulations and Flash animations. The process involved working closely with project managers to match the requirements of clients, from single bespoke pieces to city-wide schemes.
January – July 2009
Freelance Multimedia Designer
After being made redundant by CGI Media due to the economic downturn in late 2008, I took on a number of freelance projects. These included providing re-branding solutions for a computer systems supplier in Fife and providing websites for a hypnotherapist in Nottingham and a company supplying custom wheel & seat covers for 4x4s. Although I enjoyed the work immensely, the ongoing economic situation meant that it was difficult to find enough clients to maintain a viable business.
January 2005 – December 2008
Multimedia Designer | CGI Media Ltd, Edinburgh, United Kingdom
At this small Edinburgh based practice I provided high quality visualisations for architects and developers across Scotland and England. This primarily involved in 3D modelling and texturing, along with Image Compositing and final presentation work using Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator. In addition to this I was responsible for any work using Adobe Flash, having recently completed the new company website, www.cgi-media.com. I also maintained and updated the site for the company.
I was afforded a high level of responsibility from an early stage which gave me the opportunity to complete many projects and develop both independently and as part of the team. This allowed me to gain valuable experience in many aspects of working in the wider design industry, as well as some of the specific requirements of working in the architectural sector including:
- Producing the company website with Adobe Flash - including Actionscript 2.0
- Meeting the requirements of Planning Departments across the domestic, commercial and leisure sectors
- Working with a variety of output requirements.
- Working as part of a wider team alongside architects, engineers and landscape consultants.
- Able to work under pressure and co-ordinate work as part of a team to meet deadlines.
- Research into varied solutions to project requirements, using various software packages to create alternate images that may better serve the client’s objectives.
October – December 2001
Junior Designer | *Thinking Space Limited, London, United Kingdom
Computer model-maker (University work placement).
Technologies used include Minicad and Vectorworks. Worked on a variety of projects based in London and the South coast of England.
May-July 2001
